Tota Bona perficienda sunt

Tomorrow, Lucy's Tea House in Mountain View will serve its last tea, its last veggie special plate, its last tea-egg. Tammy and I paid our respects to this august institution last night. It was with tears in our eyes that we bade farewell to the proprietor, to the chairs, to the tables, to the food, and to the tea.

Tammy plotted her future out in that cafe. It was the place that got her through school, a haven from the world, a quiet retreat for reflection, for studying. We planned our own future there, trying to decide the answer to the eternal question: quo vadimus, O nos?

I met Brian K at Lucy's. I planned my wedding at Lucy's. I studied French there. I relied on Lucy's to give me food and warmth while Tammy persevered under the drudgery of the EIT.

A monkey is in the White House. Our Congress thinks that flag-burning is more important than dying soldiers. A Republican is in charge of PBS. AND Lucy's is now closed. If ever a convergence of signs came together to say to me "It's time to move on," then this is it. Quo vadam? Nescio, sed eo.

Ah that stinks, maybe the owner wants to retire or something? that happened with that dessert place on college ave we used to go to all the time. Also with the last full service gas station in Alameda just sold to expand south shore but the owner just wanted to retire.

this reminds me of when Ashland started to change, I was so depressed. It was this simple place in the 80's, maybe a couple of "ye olde Falstaff ale" places, but then it caught on and everything went up in price and it wasn't out little haven anymore. There is so much development going on now too, more retirees up there.

*sigh*
