Tanti Latine

I have noticed of late that the Latin on this webpage is wont. In an effort to ameliorate the situation, I provide for your edification various Latin sayings (from people who actually spoke the language natively) to help guide you to greater moral clarity.

Bibamus, moriendum est. -- As death is unavoidable, let's have a drink.

Facilis descensus Auerno; sed ad auras euadere est labor. -- Going to Hell is easy; it's the coming back that's hard.

Insperata accidunt magis saepe quan quae speres. -- What you didn't hope for happens more often than what you hoped for.

Ingenita leuitas et erudita uanitas. -- Shallowness is natural; conceit comes with education.

Laudant illa sed ista legunt. -- They praise good books but only read bad ones.

Nec laudas nisi mortuos poetas: tanti non est, ut placeam, perire. -- If you will only sing the ptraises of dead poets, then I'd rather go unsung.
